GS #14 began as a state-of-the-art monitor for Ampex. Since then, JBL & the most popular large concert systems have followed our design. System 14 is ideal for large homes, both in stereo & home theater use. Many theaters, clubs, & movie theaters have used #14 as their pro- speakers, too. Both Audio and Speaker Builder magazines tested JBL's 18" and proclaimed it to be the best subwoofer. The 18" JBL's one-inch excursion allows it to move more air than five 12" woofers.

Sound & Video, reviewing a four-way, 18" JBL concert system like the GS 14, said, "The finest sound; you can feel a shuttle take-off or star exploding. Effortless, extremely clean, remarkable detail." The GS 14's 18" and 12" midbass use die-cast aluminum frames & 4" vented edge-wound voice coils.

JBL's 2206H 12" is the most accurate high-output, low-distortion, mid-bass driver. The low 18" to 12" crossover improves midrange, vocal, & instrumental clarity while allowing the 18" to function as a subwoofer. #14 can be biamped. With a Dolby Digital receiver or preamp you can send the sub frequencies just to the 18". This requires an extra power amp.

Most studio monitors use horns, since their speed, detail, dispersion, & dynamic range are superior. The midhorn driver has a pure titanium diaphragm.

JBL's 2404H has the widest dispersion of any tweeter: 100 degree vertical & horizontal to 20kHz for well-defined sound throughout the room.
