The Pro-Ject Debut III is the most affordable turntable recommended by hi-fi magazines. Five U.S. & European magazines highly recommend it. The Debut III includes a pre-mounted, Danish-made, Ortofon OM5 cartridge. The Debut III in matte black finish costs $369. With a high gloss red, black or white finish, the cost is $399.
The Debut IIIUSB for $499 has a built-in phono preamp & Analog to digital converter with a USB output. This lets you easily transfer LPs to your computer hard drive, an iPod, or to a CDR. The only finish for the Debut IIIUSB is matte black.

The newest Pro-Ject turntable is the Essential for only $299. The Essential includes a Danish-made cartridge, the Ortofon OM3, a wood / MDF base & a wood / MDF platter. The Essential, our least expensive European-made turntable, is available in three colors, a matte red, black or white. 

The RM1.3 for $499 is the next model above the Debut III. The RM1.3 features include a $100 Sumiko Oyster cartridge, 1.25" thick resonance-optimized wood platter, three-point wood plinth, plus an isolated motor assembly, optimized for low noise & speed stability. Three nylon cone feet reduce noise & vibration. The RCA cables can detach, permitting easy upgrades. Many $1000+ turntables don't have detachable cables. It looks like a modern sculpture & is further enhanced by your choice of a high gloss red, black or white finish.
